This spot is safe due to its fine, compact Saharan sand seabed and the absence of emerging rocks, which can be a real hazard for both experts and beginners. Golden Beaches
The beaches of the Gulf of Gela, located on the southern coast of Sicily, offer a captivating maritime panorama characterized by a long stretch of fine, golden sand.Among these, the beach of Manfria stands out, less crowded and surrounded by almost untouched nature. The beaches are bordered by sandy dunes that create a picturesque landscape from which to admire stunning sunsets.
History
Founded in 688 B.C. by Greek colonists from Rhodes and Crete, Gela is one of the oldest cities in Sicily and played a significant role in the history of ancient Greece.Among the most emblematic monuments of Gela is the Archaeological Park, where you can admire the ruins of the ancient Greek polis, the Archaeological Museum of Gela, the Timoleontee Walls, and the Manfria Tower. Built in the 16th century, the Manfria Tower stands majestically along the coast, offering panoramic views of the sea.
